Why Today?

Am I gonna post this?
Yes I’m.
Why?
Because today is February 29. I am not sure whether I can make a post on another February 29th.
What’s so special on this day?
There is nothing more special on this day. this day is as special as yesterday and the day before.
Huh! You are making yourself complicated.
Yes! Everyday is special and today is a bit more special. Because this is a special granted 24 hours to us for this year. Which gives an additional turn to earth. Which makes a 365 to 366.

Even in my writers bloc mode why I am doing this?
I don’t know actually. But I m feeling this 24 hours is a privilege to us. A chance for us in every four years to live more. Laugh more. Think more and do more. And long after (If I live up to that long) I would like to login to Word press & read this post on another February 29th to cherish the memories of the day.

Make Your Own Story

I made this post back in August & as my nominee was not able to continue this I thought of nominating another one to complete this challenge. Re-posting the challenge.

So now, I’m on another challenge.

Neerja gave a kick start to this wonderful challenge. This is a make your own story challenge. Follow the link Make Your Own Story to know all about the start. With utmost curiosity I was looking forward to see the challenge swinging to Tejas and from there to my dearest Sri. And there it is, its my turn to give a try.

Neerja is a wonderful writer who always keeps experimenting. I really appreciate her for starting this cool challenge which turned ON my story-teller. She gave the baton to Tejas, a person who makes wonders in this wordpress. His Jack & Jill strips are really funny. He tied a wonderful knot to the story and gave the rest to Sreechandra. Sri.. She appears like once in a blue moon. But every time she brings up something magical. She swipes off my feet always. She is a superstar who carries life in every word she writes. She encourages me in every ways & that makes me write this with my whole dedication. Thank you so much Sri for nominating me for this challenge. Now its my turn to give a leap from where Sri stopped.

Rules of the challenge:

  1. You have to continue from where the nominator has left.
  2. You have to nominate only one person in this challenge.
  3. You have to write the story in next 24 hours.
  4. You have to write 100 words only.
  5. Provide the link of the earlier part of the story.
  6. You are free to end the story.
  7. And yes don’t forget to thank your nominator.
  8. Write your views about the nominee and nominator.

Story so Far…

Once upon a time their existed a wasteland in Patliputra. There lived a little boy named Aditya who was only child of Madhavi and Shankara. They used to love him a lot and wanted him to dream big and get out of this wasted land. But Aditya unlike his parents had some another dream. He wanted to improve and convert his wasteland into a dreamland where everybody wants to live. Aditya knew he had to convince his parents for this but he didn’t how will they react and whether they will approve this idea of his dreamland.

The clock struck two past midnight as a stream of snowy moonlight sneaked through the swinging-with-the-breeze curtains and scattered on Aditya’s bed. As the squeaking sparrow went back inside the ancestral wall clock after two tweets, Aditya sneaked out of his bed quietly.

He stuffed pillows under his blanket in a shape to disguise as himself. He tiptoed out to the backyard. He double checked on both sides for no one following him before going behind the banyan tree.

As planned, Shivansh was already waiting for him there. A nod from both of them assured, everything was on track. Aditya plucked out a wrinkled paper from his pocket and Shivansh’s eyes twinkled with a beaming smile.

With quivering fingers Aditya unfolded the paper. The near-yellow paper definitely looked old.

“Here”, Aditya smiled, “is the key to our dreams….If only we can get hold of this, we shall have enough resources to convert this wasteland into the land of our dreams”.

Shivansh’s eyes shone in genuine glee. He intently looked at the unfolded paper in front of his eyes. Within seconds his eye-brows stitched into each other transforming into puzzled curiosity.

“But this looks empty Adi. This is a blank paper.”

Aditya smiled. A hint of mischief waved past his face.

“Just wait and watch the magic”, Adi whispered.

He then held up the paper and placed it against the circular moon. The moonlight diffused through the ridges and furrows of the wrinkled paper lending a surreal look. Within seconds a faint map appeared on it.

Shivansh couldn’t believe his eyes. He had many questions but Aditya’s eyes were fixed on the map.

With intense seriousness he pointed to a lotus emblem right at the middle of the map.

“And here is our destination – Padmabharan – the lotus urn”.

And the story continues…..

“What is this? Who gave you this?” Shivansh’s face revealed all his zest.

Aditya is still carrying a calm face beaming at the map. Shivansh turned blue.

“Adi, this won’t make any trouble. Right?” His voice trembled slightly.

“Calm down Shiva. Don’t be over reactive as always.” Without taking eyes off the map, still held against the moon, Aditya stepped closer to Shivansh and whispered. “We are going to make history in Pataliputra.” His voice expressed extreme determination.

Shivansh stood with his mouth half-open wondering how this piece of old paper and two fourteen-years old boys going to make history.

Aditya continued. ” This is the ultimate treasure. Once we reach here, this will give us everything we need.” He pointed Padmabharan.

“But how can we find this? This is just a map, barely a map that we have never seen before.” Shivansh started losing his patience.

“I read about this in a book owned by my Dada. I got this map from the slit on the hard bind of the book. This Padmabharan is somewhere here.” Aditya continued examining the map.

Shivansh made a step aback and checked his premise. Somewhere here? With fear and anxiety he asked. “Adi, don’t make me more confused. Will you please explain?’

Aditya nodded “Yes!”

And that’s it. My part of the story. 100 words is too less. I really need a novel out of this. Now I have so many people to suggest, I go with my close writer friend Darshith to continue this story..
Darcy.. I m expecting a masterpiece effect to the story from you!! 🙂
Good luck!!

BROKEN MAGIC by Balakarthiga

First of all let me say Bala a sorry.. for dragging this review so long.. I was going through a writer’s bloc & thank God; I think I m over it.. 🙂

Usually I am out of this e-book lovers category, I am always comfortable with paper backs. But this is the second one I bought from kindle & the credit of both purchase goes to my little author sister Bala. Bala is little sister to me. A girl who can do wonders with words like Harry potter can do with his wand. (If I have to compare with a female, She is my Hermione.. 🙂 ). A Rahmaniac like me. A Harry Potter fan like me. I guess we share some common interests. Her first kindle edition was a combination of 13 fantastic short stories. Heart strings. And now, Broken Magic is the second kindle publication by Bala. A short love story which starts with one of my favorite quote by Rumi.

When I m with you, we stay up all night. When you’re not here, I can’t go to sleep. Praise God for those two insomnias! And the difference between them.

51jDBRlcS1L._SX312_BO1,204,203,200_Who never want to fall in love? Don’t say you don’t want to. Everyone wish to fall in love with your perfect match. And what this perfect match means? That’s Bala’s Broken Magic. The story of Aadhi & Nayani. A journey of love with two mismatches. Finding the true magic within. The writer had made it simple, tender & romantic as well. Wrapped in too much of love Broken magic is the story about confusions in a relationship. The love life of two perfectly opposite characters. How they repels & attracts. In Nayani, I saw myself.

They were different. Probably the two most unlikely of people to have fallen in love.
She was a strange girl who said strange things. He was a strange guy who did strange things. Only their individual definition of strangeness varied greatly.
He was a simpleton. She was an eager thinker.
He was an athletic & couldn’t be contained in a room for more than ten minutes, while she was very indoor girl.
He spoke four languages-All of them learnt in bits and pieces. She knew only two, but had mastered both.
He laughed hard at all the adult jokes and made several of them when with his friends, while she giggles & chuckled over Timon & Pumba.
She wrote vigorously-It was almost a compulsive obsession for her. Everything in her life had been written through. She had ten novels and over a hundred short stories all sitting idle on her desk.
Her life revolved around books. On the other hand, he was a guy who hadn’t bothered to even touch a work of fiction in his life.
The differences that initially sounded classically romantic, soon turned out to be conflicts & intellectual mismatch.

This is Aadhi & Nayani. And there is even more in their love story. The happiness of togetherness, the magic of romance, the pain of parting & the realization of true love. So many lovely emotions arranged in a wonderful story which makes us read the story in one simple stretch. Go and try to feel the happiness in this simple elegant love story.

‘My biggest fear isn’t that you’ll lie to me or cheat on me. No. It’s not the usual threats to a relationship that come to mind when I think of us. It’s the fact that someday, all the magic will be gone and what’ll be left of us is the painfully boring ordinariness I was filled with before I met you. I’m afraid-no-scared to death that your currently deceiving eyes will lose the filters and look at my bare mediocre self, and I m afraid you won’t be enchanted by me anymore.’ She said.

Go and own Broken Magic & take a walk with Aadhi & Nayani. In a moment you will feel like it’s your story.

Arjun aka Arjun Dev or the most common nick name posses – Ambattan is my personal comedian. If you are feeling dark around or mundane along, just ring him. He have an enchanting power to make me laugh. Not smile, I said laugh!! 😀 That’s him.
That lean guy I met in the college corridors, striving to become an electrical engineer 6 years back. A person who was obsessed with colors, paintings & photography. Like every Keralite; an engineer first and chasing the real dream then! Who was ready to pass any hurdle to pursue his dreams. Someone who taught me what dedication towards passion is & lives right in front of my eyes. And I am the biggest fan of this Photographer cum Designer cum Artist cum Painter cum Absolute dancer.

And now, my dear..
Happy Birthday! Keep going! I know you are still struggling to stand still in these waves which are striding around us. But you are a winner always! Who creates happiness within & around. Thank You for being one among the very few of trusted people I own. Thank you for all those stupid jokes you cracked even at our tough times. I am not going emotional, that never suits us. We are insane people na?
‘It’s not the money that matters; It’s the happiness I m getting from Photography which makes me ME!’ Even you said this while laughing, this was one class punch dialogue from you dear.. 😛
Stay blessed Always!!
Fly high!!

You are lovely.. My prayers & Love.. 🙂
